Performing a PhD thesis can be tough at times; there are times when your experiments do not deliver the results you want, when your articles are being rejected (sometimes with unjustified criticism, or at least it appears so to you), when you are working long hours, when you are suffering from writers block, when you have to teach unmotivated students, etc etc etc.
Instead of inflating your title or acting defensive about what you’ve accomplished, be real. Talk about the real people and companies you’ve worked with or the real learning experiences you’ve had. Then talk about what you really want and what you’re willing to do to get it. 3. Waiting for other people to contact you.
My reasons for doing a PhD were exactly the raison d'etre for a PhD, namely the chance to do some original work contribution new knowledge to my chosen field. I would add to that the chance to learn new skills to enhance my future career prospect post-PhD, though that depends upon what you want to do after.

Non-academic research. If you don’t get a job in academia, or if you don’t want to, there are other important sectors that explicitly hire economics PhD’s.
Enrolling in a PhD program is, from an economic perspective, a terrible decision. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Just don’t let it ruin your life.
